Te decision to put Kyle Mills in ahead of Ronnie Hira was foolish in the extreme. Hira excels on grounds with large boundaries, where he turns over the strike, and runs like a demon, making 1's turn into 2's and 2's turn into 3's.
Kyle Mills is a right handed version of Colin Munro, good at hitting 6's on small grounds, but not great at turning over the strike.
Auckland didn't need someone to hit 6's - they needed a steady accumulation of runs - which is exactly what Hira would have given them.
Auckland should have never lost this game, but they threw it away.
@Michael,
I agree...and it was a match that the Aces should have won with ease. Pity. I was impressed with Bates! Think the guy has bowling in the Indian conditions mastered! :)
Real shame that your team has been eliminated though. They provided 2 really good matches!
